Talking Impact is a series of termly workshops by ImpactEd. They provide an opportunity for our partners and the wider education community to discuss all things related to impact and education. Each one spotlights a different research and evaluation topic and is designed to help to develop attendees’ knowledge of evaluation and inform their own practice.
We are hosting our third workshop in this series on 21st June 2023 via Zoom and the spotlight is on evaluation of digital tools.
The first half of the session will include a short presentation of our paper on EdTech's impact on teacher workload, pupil outcomes, and disadvantaged pupils as well as recommendations for evaluating EdTech, followed by a panel discussion on using evaluation to inform greater impact of digital services. This will be followed in the second half by a facilitated networking session and a chance to share practice informally.
Organisations in the education sector and schools know that measuring their impact on pupils is important but often they don’t know how to make their evaluation accessible to all pupils and their wide range of needs. ImpactEd Evaluation has worked with education organisations and schools to do exactly this: design inclusive evaluations to reflect the realities of all pupils. This event will focus on what steps education organisations can take to make the surveys they use more accessible.
Poor school attendance and persistence absence have been on the increase in post-pandemic schooling. Understanding the drivers of school attendance has been a key focus of our national research. This event focused on what education organisations could learn from this work and how they can effectively gather data to evidence their impact on school attendance.
Last year we launched our Understanding Attendance national research project to help schools and trusts identify the drivers behind low attendance in their contexts and what initiatives they can put in place to address this. On the 18th of January, we explored our initial findings of our report in this webinar with attendance experts.
