Owen Carter
Co-Founder and Managing Director
Owen has led the development of ImpactEd since inception. Prior to ImpactEd, he led research and evaluation projects at education charity The Brilliant Club, and developed a digital platform for teacher development at Optimus Education. He's a winner of the Teach First Innovation Award and was named one of PwC's 'Tomorrow's Business Leaders'.
Sarah Knight
Full Stack Developer
Sarah retrained as a web developer following a career spent in publishing and animation, and hasn't looked back. She loves to use her programming skills for good, building applications that help people. Before ImpactEd, Sarah worked as a software engineer and technical lead for a digital consultancy and an online education and learning platform.
Joe McGinn
Head of School Partnerships
Joe has ten years of experience in youth work, third sector programme delivery and educational project management. Joe was previously Programme Director at social enterprise Volunteer It Yourself and is currently a sitting magistrate. Joe is passionate about improving social mobility and is excited to be using his experience to help improve pupil outcomes with ImpactEd.
Dr Chris Wilson
Director
Chris is a director at ImpactEd, supporting strategy and partnerships. Alongside his work at ImpactEd, he is a consultant who supports charities and social enterprises to design strategies for impact, financial sustainability and growth. He recently stepped down as CEO of The Brilliant Club, an award-winning education charity. Chris holds a PhD in thirteenth-century ecclesiastical history.
Deena Newaz
Impact Partnerships Manager
Deena has worked in education and international development across Europe, North America and MENA with research expertise in social and emotional learning, refugee education and impact evaluation. She previously worked as a programme manager at the World Innovation Summit for Education where she designed and delivered youth development programmes and global education forums.
Kristy Evers
Head of Impact Partnerships
Kristy has a variety of experience across the education and impact evaluation sectors. She was a teacher in Singapore, worked as a (qualitative) researcher for a major educational publisher and spent several years at a start-up focused on research impact in the Higher Education sector across Europe, Hong Kong and Australia. Kristy has an MA in Education and Technology from University College London and is passionate about the impact and potential of educational technologies.
Rachel Crowdy
School Partnerships Manager
Rachel has eight years of experience teaching Science and Biology in inner London secondary schools and at an international school in Paris. During her time in teaching, Rachel was Head of Biology and has led numerous targeted interventions to improve pupil outcomes. Rachel holds a Masters in Science Communication and has conducted research into factors affecting students' study choices.
Dr Jack Williams
Impact Partnerships Officer
Jack has a varied background in education, the public sector and evaluation, having joined ImpactEd from BCG's Public Sector practice. Jack is a quantitative researcher with a PhD from Cambridge University, where he remains on various outreach/admissions committees. A former maths teacher, he has a deep passion for education and has founded a social enterprise working on educational outreach in India.
Hayley Reader-Curtis
Head of Operations and Product
Hayley has worked in a variety of roles within the education sector including product development, curriculum management and operations. Prior to joining ImpactEd she oversaw the development and delivery of an online learning platform for the award-winning international education company Oxford Summer Courses, and worked for the EdTech startup Learning Ladders, building products for schools and implementing operational processes.
Colin Robertson
Full Stack Developer
Colin Robertson is a software developer who has spent many years working on large-scale and high-traffic systems, and who has a deep interest in tools and techniques for improving effectiveness and well-being. He is excited to put his technical skills to use to help improve education and the school experience for pupils.
Matt Bee
Full Stack Developer
Matt has worked as a software engineer for 16 years for a variety of companies as well as running his own business. Most recently Matt worked as a public sector consultant helping Ministry of Justice and Hackney Borough Council improve public services. Outside of working he enjoys mentoring less experienced developers and teaching primary school children programming skills in Code Club (as well as playing guitar and restoring his classic mini).
Holly Waddell
Impact Partnerships Officer
Holly began working in education as an English teacher before working at Teach First delivering their Leadership Development Programme in schools across the North West. Prior to joining ImpactEd, she worked in a social and economic research consultancy with a focus on education and skills. She has a Masters in Education from The University of Manchester and is currently a school governor.
Beth Williams
School Partnerships Officer
Before joining ImpactEd , Beth worked at education charity The Brilliant Club on two different programmes. Prior to this, Beth worked for the Children's Commissioner for Wales conducting research and running workshops on Children's Rights across Wales. She is currently studying for a Masters in Human Rights at Birkbeck College and enjoys playing netball in her spare time.
Dr Samantha Ardin
Impact Partnerships Manager
Sam has a diverse background in education and research having worked as a secondary school teacher, a scientific researcher and, most recently, at the children's charity, Jamie's Farm, where she worked both alongside vulnerable young people and as an Impact Manager. Sam has a PhD in Ecology and Computer Science from the University of Bristol, where she developed her skills as a quantitative researcher.
Dr Babak Somekh
Associate Researcher
Dr Babak Somekh is an academic researcher with expertise in impact evaluation methodology and the role of non-cognitive skills in long-term academic and career outcomes. He specialises in work involving school-age pupils and quasi-experimental approaches to assessing impact. Babak is also a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Bristol.
Tim Diggins
Technical Consultant
Tim is a developer and system designer who is particularly interested in programmes which make complex things easier for humans to comprehend. With 8 years as a school governor, and over 15 years senior tech development experience, he's pleased to be able to combine interests in programming, workflow and education by working on ImpactEd.
Dr Matthew Gregory
Data Scientist
Matt is a data scientist with expertise in machine learning methodologies and their application to educational problems. He's a former science teacher and has worked across data science teams in the public sector, including the Department for Education and the Government Digital Service.
Jonathan Sobczyk
Founder and Chair
Jonny is a Director and member of the leadership at the management consultancy firm BCS. Prior to this, he was CEO of the Peter Jones Foundation, and CEO and Co-founder of The Brilliant Club and Researchers in Schools. Jonny has been named in the Top 10 Young UK Social Entrepreneurs, The Observer's Britain's 50 New Radicals and won the Guardian's Charity of the Year award.
Elin de Zoete
Director
Elin de Zoete is Managing Director at PLMR, an award winning public affairs and marketing agency, and oversees much of their work in education. Elin is a school governor, a former Board member of the Centre for Education Economics, and in 2019 was named one of PolicyMogul's Top Ten Inspirational Women in Public Affairs.
Darshan Sanghrajka
Director
Darshan Sanghrajka has 15 years of experience working in innovation, communications and digital, and is the founder of Super Being Labs and several other social enterprises. He also sits on a number of advisory boards for community and digital organisations.
John Rendel
Director
John Rendel is Director of Grants at the Peter Cundill Foundation. Prior to his role at the Foundation, John founded PEAS, a network of schools in Africa providing high-quality secondary education to children who would otherwise struggle to go to school.
